Can I Take a Break From Resting Yet??

It has been over two weeks since I hurt my knee and I have been resting like a real professional! Everyday it’s rest, rest, rest. And after that? Rest!

Did you know rest can melt your face?!?

It has not been all boring. Mom has been teaching me some new things. I already knew how “touch” hands with my nose, but now I am learning how to “touch” things that mom is holding. And I am learning to “tap” things with my paws.

Sometimes I try to hide from the rest…but it always finds me.

Mom is also teaching me to balance things on top of my head and to hold things in my mouth. I already learned “pick it up,” but I like to just pick things up and then throw them…hehehe 🙂 Now I am learning how to hold onto something until mom tells me it’s okay to let go. Soon mom will take some videos of what I am learning so I can show you!

Plus mom has been bringing my soft crate, aka “the tent”, outside every so often so I can enjoy the breeze and the smells and watch the world go by. I really love that.

Okay, mom, NOW can I stop with the resting??

Mom is waiting for an appointment the the veterinarian that does some special things like the cold laser and physical therapies. Hopefully I will get to see her this week and we will make a plan for me getting better. Until then mom and dad are getting some strong muscles from carrying me up and down the stairs and on and off the furnitures 😉

The other good thing is that I have not had any pain medicines for more than a week and I have not been limping at all. Mom is not really sure if this means my knee is not hurting though, since I can kind of be a tough guy about stuff that hurts…

And one more good thing is that I am being a very well behaved patient. Mom thought I might be wild because I am used to lots of exercise and playing, but I have been very calm and cooperative. Okay…maybe I get a little zoomie when she takes me out for nighttime potty breaks, but just the tiniest bit, I promise!

Well, I guess I do still love a good nap 🙂

So for now I have a very busy schedule of…you guessed it…rest!

I hope you all had a good weekend! Reading about all your cool adventures gives me a really great rest from the resting 😀

  1. =) I can’t wait to see those cool videos of your new tricks, Remy! I’ve tried to teach Athena how to hold something on her nose, but she’s no good at it. We want to teach Athena how to hold something too, so I bet your videos will be a big help for us!

I hope you get better verrrrrry soon!

    • Thank you! Mom had a tricky time getting me to balance stuff at first too. Finally she tried putting a treat at my eye level and telling me to wait. Then she put something not at all tasty on top of my big flat head, which is easier then the nose 🙂 That helped me figure out what she wanted me to do. Soon I will be ready for advanced balancing of treats on the nosey 😉

  2. Oh Remy, you are being such a good girl .That is a great sign that you are not showing any pain after being off the pain killers. Hope it won’t be long until you are healed. That is no fun at all to have to rest all the time. Take care.

  3. Remy you are truly being a VERY good boy while you recover….and the more rest you get, the better that leg is going to feel when you really get a chance to “Test it out” !!! Trust me on that buddy!

  4. I know it’s boring to rest and I’m glad your mom is there to entertain you. I hope the vet can repair your knee and his plan will work perfect for you. I also know its not easy to carry a large doggy on the stairs – my dad was totally exhausted, my 88lbs were too much for him :o)

  5. You are such a good bot, Remy! We are very proud of the way you have been power resting and are so glad you are feeling better! Has your Mom considered taking you to an osteopath? They can help a lot too.

    Woofs,
    Tommy

  6. Thank you very much! An osteopath is a good idea! Mom is not sure if she will be able to find an osteopathic veterinarian in our area, but she is going to look. The veterinarian I am going to see does a lot of holistic and alternative treatments too 🙂

  7. I’m relieved to hear that you’re feeling better! Rest can kinda stink sometimes… but I thought you might say that you wanted to take a break from all this resting and take a nap ’cause it’s so exhausting! Learning new things like touch can be a lot of fun! Maybe you can learn how to turn the lights on and off one day. 🙂

  8. Rem buddy rest can be so hard and tiring. But I just know soon you will be zipping about. I am impressed with how well you are handling the REST.
    Blessings,
    Goose

  9. OMD, Remy. I don’t know how you’ve done it. I’d be C..R..A..Z..Y by now, but maybe that’s because I’m a crazy herding dog. I know you’ll soon be doing real zoomies soon. Hand in there, buddy. Sounds like Mom has been keeping your mind really busy and that’s really tiring too.

  10. Your Moms is sooo smart! Teachin’ you new tricks to keep your mind busy. If you can’t wear us out physically, wear us out mentally, right?! BOL I can’t wait to see your videos Remy!
I am so proud of you being such a good patient! Your gonna get betters that much faster.
    Paws crossed on a super fast recovery! {{{hugs}}}
    Kisses,
    Ruby

  11. Glad you’re taking it well Remy. Can’t wait to see all of your cool new tricks on video! My vet told me Shiner may have torn her ACL once after she zoomed off after a raccoon. After a week or so of rest, she stopped limping thankfully… phew! I hope your tear is healing really good!

    • Hey! Yay for Shiner! And that makes me feel better too because I’ve not been limping at all for over two weeks, even without the Deramaxx 🙂 I hope I will have a good story like Shiner’s to tell soon!

  12. aaaww, you poor baby! But just think how much smarter you’ll be after your mom’s finished teaching you all those tricks 🙂 Wish you all the best and kisses on that beautiful face of yours.

  13. Well you know what they say….rest is best. We hope you are better soon and back to doing zoomies here there and everywhere. Well done mum for keeping you amused. Have a terrific napping Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  14. Glad to see you’re using your rest time wisely. Those are some really neat tricks! I can’t wait to see the video. I hope those treatments work for you. Rest is nice, but so is playing outdoors.

  15. Wow Remy,

You sure are being a good patient, I don’t know that I could handle all that resting! I’m so happy you’re not limping anymore, that’s a super good sign!

    Good luck with your recovery,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  16. Wow! You are awesome for doing all that resting up Remy! Such a good baby! I’m sure once you’re giving the OK, you’ll back to zoomies as usual!

  17. Remi,
Mes thinks with all that resting and the quiet tricks, yous would make a marvelous cat!
    Kisses
